Today is Jordan’s first official Occupational Therapy session with KidsAbility. The wait was long, (through no fault of the agency but the blame rests solely on the Canadian Government), and we are excited for it to begin.
707 days ago is when we first talked to the doctor about Jordan’s issues. We were concerned about his delays in crawling, walking, and speech. It was May of this year that the official diagnosis of autism was finally given. 707 days ago our lives began to change forever.
707 days is a ridiculous amount of time to wait to get this kind of help.
Not a day goes by that we don’t worry about his future. He is an extremely bright kid. And with the wonderful help from Veronique at Wee-Talk, and the relentless encouragement from Kevin and Elziabeth and Melissa at his daycare, Jordan’s brilliance is shining a little more everyday.
Jordan may be delayed, but he will succeed.
To annoy everyone with another Pink Floyd reference, the song “Fearless” reminds me of no matter how slow progress sometimes is with Jordan, or how many times he regresses, he will succeed. Just in his own way.
“You say the hill’s too steep to climb, chiding,
You say you’d like to see me try, climbing,
You pick the place and I’ll choose the time,
And I’ll climb the hill in my own way,
Just wait a while for the right day,
And as I rise above the tree-lines and the clouds
I look down, hearing the sound,
Of the things you’ve said today….”
